Teacup vs Toy vs Mini Maltipoo: Full-Grown Size Guide

A Maltipoo's adult size depends mostly on the size of its Poodle parent. The Maltese side is consistently small, with the AKC Maltese breed standard placing adults under 7 pounds. The Poodle side varies by variety: the AKC Toy Poodle standard calls for 4 to 6 pounds and a height of up to 10 inches, while the AKC Miniature Poodle standard runs 10 to 15 pounds. Teacup, toy, and mini describe where a Maltipoo is expected to land within that span.

Teacup Maltipoo Full-Grown Weight and Height

A teacup Maltipoo typically matures under 5 pounds and stands about 5 to 8 inches at the shoulder. These are the smallest Maltipoos, usually produced from very small Maltese and Toy Poodle parents. Their size makes them easy to carry and well suited to apartment life, and it also means they need closer attention to feeding, warmth, and safe handling during puppyhood.

Toy Maltipoo Full-Grown Weight and Height

A toy Maltipoo typically matures between 5 and 10 pounds and stands about 8 to 10 inches tall. Toy Maltipoos are still small enough to travel easily and sit comfortably on a lap, with a slightly sturdier frame that many families find easier to manage around the house.

Mini Maltipoo Full-Grown Weight and Height

A mini Maltipoo typically matures between 10 and 20 pounds and stands about 11 to 14 inches tall. Minis usually come from a Miniature Poodle parent. They suit families who want the Maltipoo temperament and coat in a dog that is a little more robust for walks and play.

How We Estimate Your Puppy's Adult Size

No one can promise an exact adult weight from a 12-week-old puppy, but a few data points narrow the range considerably. We look at the weights of both parents, the puppy's weight history from our nannies' regular weigh-ins, and how that puppy is tracking against littermates. Most of our Maltipoos come from toy-sized Maltese and Poodle parents and are expected to mature in the teacup to toy range. Ask about any specific puppy during your video call and we will share its current weight and projected adult range.

Size Typical Full-Grown Weight Typical Height at Shoulder Usual Poodle Parent
Teacup Maltipoo Under 5 lbs About 5 to 8 in Small Toy Poodle
Toy Maltipoo 5 to 10 lbs About 8 to 10 in Toy Poodle
Mini Maltipoo 10 to 20 lbs About 11 to 14 in Miniature Poodle

Ranges are typical, not guaranteed. Genetics, nutrition, and overall health all influence final adult size.

Maltipoo Colors We Raise

Our Maltipoo litters come from Maltese parents and Cream and Silver Poodle parents, so most of our puppies fall in the cream and apricot family. Coat color can soften or lighten as a Maltipoo matures, so the puppy you meet at 12 weeks may look a shade or two different as an adult.

White and Cream Maltipoos

Cream is the color we produce most often, ranging from a warm ivory to a soft biscuit tone. Many of our cream puppies also carry white markings on the chest, paws, or face, which we list as cream with white markings. A cream coat tends to show tear staining less than a pure white coat, though routine face cleaning still helps keep it bright.

Apricot Maltipoos

Apricot Maltipoos have a warm, golden-peach coat that gives them the classic teddy bear look. Some of our apricot puppies have white patches, listed as apricot and white. Apricot can lighten over the first year or two, so ask to see photos of the parents if you have a specific adult shade in mind.

Color What It Looks Like Good to Know
Cream Ivory to light biscuit Our most common Maltipoo color
Cream with white markings Cream body with white chest, paws, or face Markings are usually stable into adulthood
Apricot Warm golden-peach May lighten as the coat matures
Apricot and white Apricot with white patches Pattern varies puppy to puppy

How Much Is a Teacup Maltipoo?

Each puppy's price is shown directly on its listing. Recent Maltipoo listings on our site have ranged from about $5,200 to $7,000 USD, though current pricing can differ by litter. Every price includes veterinary exams, age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, a microchip, a government-certified health certificate, the one-year health guarantee, and Pet Cargo delivery to our included airports.

What Affects Maltipoo Puppy Prices

Several factors move the price of an individual Maltipoo:

  • Projected adult size: the smallest teacup puppies take the most hands-on care and are typically priced higher.
  • Face type: a round face, short muzzle, and large dark eyes are the most requested look.
  • Coat color and markings: some shades and patterns are in higher demand.
  • Lineage: the quality and documentation of the parent dogs.
  • Delivery method: in-flight nanny delivery and some airports carry an added fee.

How Our Maltipoo Puppies Are Raised

Our Maltipoos are born and raised at our kennel in South Korea, where the smallest newborns can weigh just one to two ounces. Puppies that small need care around the clock, so our experienced puppy nannies feed, weigh, handle, and socialize each one from birth until travel day. Gentle daily handling and early exposure to new sounds and people help build the calm, confident temperament Maltipoos are loved for.

Real Photos, Real Videos, and Live Video Calls

Every photo and video on a listing shows that exact puppy. We do not use stock images, and we do not edit photos to change how a puppy looks. Before you pay any deposit, we offer a live video call so you can see your puppy in real time, watch them move and play, and ask every question you have.

Health, Vet Checks, and Our One-Year Guarantee

Vet Checks and Vaccinations Before Every Placement

Our partner veterinarians examine every Maltipoo for signs of genetic defects and test for parvovirus, coronavirus, and canine distemper. Each puppy receives age-appropriate vaccinations (recent listings show Vanguard Plus 5 CV/L), deworming, and a microchip. A government veterinarian then certifies the health certificate, vaccination record, and export papers before travel. If a health problem turns up before your puppy flies, we cancel the flight and refund you in full.

What Our One-Year Health Guarantee Covers

Every Maltipoo comes with a written one-year health guarantee.

Covered Not Covered
Heart defects rated scale 4 or above Luxating patella
Organ dysfunction Hernias
Genetic defects Parasites
Life-threatening defects Low blood sugar (hypoglycemia)
Canine distemper and canine coronavirus Other common treatable conditions

To keep coverage in place, book a vet exam soon after arrival, since the guarantee relies on your initial vet records. Distemper or coronavirus must be reported by your veterinarian within 15 days of arrival, and pet insurance is required. Read the full terms before you reserve.

Maltipoo Lifespan and Long-Term Wellness

The AKC lists a life expectancy of 12 to 15 years for the Maltese and 10 to 18 years for the Toy Poodle, and many Maltipoos live well into their teens with attentive care. Small-breed concerns worth watching include dental crowding, tear staining, and patellar luxation, where the kneecap slips out of place. Daily tooth brushing, a healthy weight, yearly checkups, and prompt attention to limping or skipping steps all support a long, comfortable life.

Is a Teacup Maltipoo Right for You?

  • Temperament and Personality

Maltipoos are affectionate companions that like to stay close to their people. From the Poodle side, many inherit a bright, trainable mind that responds well to short, reward-based sessions. From the Maltese side, they tend to be gentle and sociable, though they can be alert barkers. Because they bond so closely, Maltipoos usually do best in homes where someone is around for much of the day.

  • Low-Shedding Coats and Allergies

The Maltipoo coat sheds lightly, which keeps loose hair to a minimum around the house. No dog is truly hypoallergenic, however. According to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the proteins that trigger dog allergies are found in saliva, dander, and urine, not just hair. If anyone in your home has dog allergies, spend time around a Maltipoo before committing.

  • Apartment Living, Kids, and Seniors

A teacup or toy Maltipoo is a natural fit for apartments and condos, needing only short walks and indoor play to stay content. Families with older, gentle children usually do well with a Maltipoo, while homes with toddlers should plan on close supervision, since a dog this small can be hurt by a fall or rough play. Many seniors enjoy the breed's affectionate, low-exercise nature, and a slightly larger toy or mini Maltipoo can be easier to see underfoot.

Bringing Your Maltipoo Home

Why Puppies Stay With Us Until 16 Weeks or Older

We keep every Maltipoo with us until at least 16 weeks old, and our tiniest puppies stay until five or six months, so each one leaves strong and fit to fly. Airline rules require puppies to be at least 4 months old and weigh at least 2 pounds to fly Pet Cargo. Puppies headed to the United States must also be at least 6 months old under current CDC entry requirements, along with a microchip and a CDC Dog Import Form.

Pet Cargo, Nanny Delivery, and Pickup Options

Most puppies fly Pet Cargo in a pressurized, temperature-controlled section of the aircraft, with food and water attached to the crate. Pet Cargo delivery is included to LAX, JFK, SEA, LAS, SFO, MIA, YYZ, and YVR, and delivery to DFW, IAD, ATL, and YUL is available for an added fee. For other cities, an in-flight nanny can travel with your puppy and hand them to you in person, with pricing based on destination. Pet Cargo flights into Canada pause for the summer heat embargo, typically June 1 to September 1. We do not deliver to Australia, South Africa, India, or Hawaii because of import restrictions. See our delivery page for current details.

Your First Week: Feeding, Grooming, and Training Basics

  • Feeding: Low blood sugar is seen in toy breed puppies during their first six months, so offer small, frequent meals of a quality small-breed puppy food. Call your veterinarian right away if your puppy seems weak, shaky, or skips a meal.
  • Warmth and safety: Tiny bodies lose heat quickly. Keep your puppy warm, block stairs, and use ramps or steps near furniture.
  • Vet visit: Book an exam within the first few days to start your vet records and keep your health guarantee in place.
  • Grooming: Brush a few times a week to prevent tangles, clean around the eyes daily, and plan on professional grooming every four to six weeks.
  • Training: Set a consistent potty schedule, keep training sessions short and positive, and introduce new people and sounds gently.

Our Puppy Care Checklist covers everything to prepare before arrival day.

Teacup Maltipoo FAQs

How big does a full-grown teacup Maltipoo get?

A full-grown teacup Maltipoo typically weighs under 5 pounds and stands about 5 to 8 inches at the shoulder. Final size depends on the parents, nutrition, and health, so ask about the parents' weights and your puppy's current weight during your video call.

How much does a teacup Maltipoo cost?

Each puppy's price is listed on its profile. Recent Maltipoo listings on our site have ranged from about $5,200 to $7,000 USD, including vet exams, vaccinations, a microchip, a health certificate, the one-year health guarantee, and Pet Cargo delivery to included airports.

Are teacup Maltipoos hypoallergenic?

No dog is fully hypoallergenic. Maltipoos shed lightly, which many allergy-sensitive owners find easier to live with, but allergy-causing proteins are also found in saliva and dander. Spend time with the breed before committing if anyone in your home has allergies.

How long do Maltipoos live?

Many Maltipoos live into their early to mid teens. Their parent breeds have AKC life expectancies of 12 to 15 years for the Maltese and 10 to 18 years for the Toy Poodle. Dental care, a healthy weight, and regular vet visits all support a longer life.

What's the difference between a teacup and a toy Maltipoo?

Size. A teacup Maltipoo typically matures under 5 pounds, while a toy Maltipoo usually lands between 5 and 10 pounds. Both share the same temperament and coat. Teacups need extra care with feeding, warmth, and handling, while toys are slightly sturdier.

Are Maltipoos good for first-time owners?

Yes, for many first-time owners. Maltipoos are affectionate, adaptable, and quick to learn with positive training. They do need regular grooming, consistent potty training, and plenty of time with their people, so plan for that commitment.

Do you deliver Maltipoo puppies to the USA and Canada?

Yes. Pet Cargo delivery is included to LAX, JFK, SEA, LAS, SFO, MIA, YYZ, and YVR, with DFW, IAD, ATL, and YUL available for an added fee. An in-flight nanny can deliver to other cities. Confirm current options for your area with our team.

Can I meet my puppy before reserving?

Yes. We offer a live video call with your chosen puppy before you pay any deposit. You can also meet available puppies in person at our City Walk storefront in Dubai or arrange a visit to our kennel in South Korea.
